Hendrik Storm – Executive Director at Mercy Ships
TRANSFORMING LIVES:
ADDRESSING THE SURGICAL HEALTH SITUATION IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA WITH MERCY SHIPS
Hendrik is an Executive Director at Mercy Ships and a member of their Executive Leadership Team. He leads the consolidated efforts of national offices worldwide, focusing on fundraising and volunteer recruitment for Mercy Ships’ critical work of delivering free, life-changing medical care and training to communities in Africa. Academically, Hendrik holds a BSc in Finance, an MSc in Accounting & Financial Management, and a PGDip in Theology. His experience in the global non-profit sector includes a tenure as International CEO of Barnabas, overseeing the annual funding of 300-400 projects in about 50 countries. He moved into the non-profit world after holding the role of Regional Operations Director at Aldi. Born in South Africa and having lived in the United Kingdom for 20 years, he now lives in Switzerland with his wife and four children. Hendrik combines his strong academic background with executive leadership to drive meaningful change.

Naiken Surennaidoo – Founding President of the Humanitarian for Empowerment Association (HFE)
WHY EMPOWERMENT SHOULD DRIVE HUMANITARIAN ACTION
Born in Donetsk, USSR, and raised in Mauritius, Naiken started medicine after completing his Cambridge certifications and earning an MD from Donetsk University. Transitioning to Switzerland, he embarked a career at the University Hospital of Geneva (HUG) in general surgery. Then a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) from the University of Geneva and then as a Fellow of the European Board of Surgeons (F.E.B.S) and the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Medical Director at Pôle Santé Vallée de Joux, Medical Consultant at HUG, Nyon hospital, and Clinique la Prairie, Montreux. Leader and Founding President of the Humanitarian for Empowerment Association (HFE), advocating for global healthcare and empowerment initiatives. In 2022, Naiken was honored to receive the prestigious Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise from the President of Ukraine, recognizing his contributions to healthcare and humanitarian efforts. Looking ahead, his vision remains focused on advancing medical care and making impactful contributions to global health and humanitarian causes.
