The Geneva EMBA

A program for a global, responsible, and transformative career

The mission of the Geneva School of Economics and Management is to educate responsible leaders for a diverse and changing society. The Geneva EMBA offers professionals to acquire the foundational knowledge in managing and leading organizations with a focus on building a global advantage, leading responsibly, and managing transformation.

How is the Geneva EMBA taught?

The EMBA teaching faculty consists of academics who engage in rigorous research to provide cutting-edge management knowledge and business professionals who provide hands-on tools for how to effectively manage organizations. Our teaching methods include a mix of lectures, case studies, interactive class discussions and assignments, as well as guest speakers from Geneva’s ecosystem. During the EMBA program, our students are connected to leading executives and managers who provide practical insights to how they have been introducing and managing transformative changes, managing their business responsibly, and building global advantage.

The EMBA Program is designed for aspiring Business Leaders with functional or sectorial leadership experience seeking a career change or professional development opportunities and put their practice in perspective.

Admission

Because of its reputation for excellence, admission to the EMBA Program is highly selective.

  • Admission to the program is based on the candidate's application file; potentially qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview
  • Great importance is attributed to the quality of academic record, personal motivation and relevance of the professional experience

 

Admission criteria:

  • Bachelor Degree, or equivalent (i.e. Bac+3,... ) *
  • Pertinent work experience : 3 years minimum in a managerial role (excludes training sessions, internship)

 

Required skills:

  • Strong command of both written and spoken English
  • Computer office tools (spreadsheet, word processor, presentation tools)
  • Basic Accounting understanding (balance sheets/income statement, P&N, EBITDA) or ability to assimilate numbers and concepts


SELECTION PROCESS
 

Admission to our program takes into account the candidate's academic qualifications, professional experience, and other relevant criteria (i.e, motivation, willingness to invest the required time and energy to complete the program, international exposure,...). 

The selection process includes 4 steps:

  • Validation of application & documents submitted online
  • Quality of the candidate's dossier
  • One-hour interview for admissible applications. Although it is normally conducted in person, it may be done online, if necessary
  • Review of validated applications and final decision by the Directing Committee


Notification is sent to candidates by email.

ACCEPTANCE

In order to finalize their enrollment, candidates must complete the following steps:

  • confirm their participation and settle the non-refundable CHF 5'000.- enrollment fee within 10 days of their acceptance to the EMBA
  • submit certified or notarized copies of their university diplomas and transcripts to the EMBA office

There is no application fee.

NOTE: Applicants should already hold a valid permit or be able to travel for the entire duration of their studies.

Course schedule & format

The Geneva EMBA caters to executives without interrupting their careers.

Courses are held mainly Friday & Saturday, every other week:

  • Fridays: 2:15 pm - 9 pm
  • Saturdays: 8:15 am - 1 pm

Some modules are scheduled on 3 consecutive full days (Thursday, Friday & Saturday) from 8.30 am to 6 pm.

Participants have the option to attend courses onsite or online (conditions apply); 100% attendance is required in order to validate a course, whether onsite or online.

Course location

Courses are usually held at Uni Mail, University of Geneva, 40 Boulevard du Pont d'Arve, 1205 Geneva.

Total cost of the Executive MBA:

CHF 42’500 *

Early Bird – total cost of the program: CHF 34’000 for applications received before February 1st 2024 and no waiting list. Should you be offered a place, your seat will be guaranteed upon payment of the matriculation fees.

The above includes the non-refundable enrolment/matriculation fee, mandatory course materials & exams, and participation to most activities organized within the EMBA Program.

Enrollment/Matriculation - payable upon acceptance CHF 5’000

1st year foundational courses: CHF 18’750

2nd year advanced courses: CHF 18’750

Program study extension must be pre-approved by the EMBA Office - subject to CHF 2’000 extension fee from the 3rd year on.

Payments

CHF 5'000 enrollment / matriculation: this non-refundable fee is due immediately upon acceptance in the EMBA.

Tuition: this fee (or first installment) must be settled before the first day of class. Candidates who wish to request installments must do so immediately upon acceptance into the EMBA.

Payment methods: Payment accepted via bank transfer.

Checks are not accepted.

Refund policy

In case of withdrawal from the program, tuition fees are still due to the EMBA. However, refunds may apply as follows:

  • 90% of the tuition fee for cancellations made at least 30 days prior to the first day of class
  • 50% of the tuition fee for cancellations made after the 30 day deadline but before to the first day of class
  • After the 1st day of class, the tuition fee will not be reimbursed

There is no refund of any kind for course failure or expulsion from the EMBA Program

The enrollment / matriculation fee is non-refundable in any circumstances, and it is not transferable from one year to the next.

The EMBA policy is subject to the REGLEMENT D’ETUDES CADRE DU MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA) of GSEM FACULTY

Scholarship

The University does not offer scholarships. However, eligible applicants may apply for an annual "Training Check”. For more information, please see: https://www.ge.ch/caf/.
